Sun Up Services Is a Story of Mentorship, a Leap of Fait, and Hard Work
Richard “Bo” Bulmanski and Fred Menth founded Air Command, an A/C company, in the early 1980s and served Pinellas County for over four decades with honesty and integrity. They sold the business in the early 2000s but continued to assist other HVAC business owners in establishing and expanding their companies for several years. Their success in owning a business for 40 years taught them that honesty, hard work, punctuality, and working long hours are the critical elements of American business practices.
During that time, Bo met Shawn Crews, and they became friends. Bo noticed that Shawn had a strong work ethic, unwavering core values, and a clear vision for his future. Bo encouraged Shawn to obtain his license and start his company, Mechanical A/C Designs, LLC, which was established in 2018. Although Shawn didn’t know it then, Bo continued to mentor him even after his company was up and running.
In 2013, Bo and Fred created Cool-Aide A/C & Heating Inc by joining forces once again. They bought Air Command, their former company, in a year, and discontinued its name. However, since they had served the area for over 30 years, numerous homeowners were acquainted with the Air Command name, and many units still bear Air Command stickers.
Even though Bo started his own AC business called Cool-Aide A/C, he still acted as a mentor to Shawn. Bo would frequently recommend customers to Shawn to help him establish himself within the community. Bo had confidence in Shawn’s skills and knew he could rely on him to provide excellent service, repair, and installation. Fred and Bo frequently used Shawn’s services, such as HVAC maintenance, filter changes, and other miscellaneous tasks.
Bo passed away in September 2019 due to cancer. As per Bo’s friend and mentor’s wishes, Shawn bought the two companies. Shawn felt honored to do so, as this was an opportunity to continue Bo’s legacy and provide excellent service to the community.
Sun Up Services is the result of the three companies, Mechanical A/C Designs, Cool Aide A/C and Air Command, coming together. Shawn and the team are committed to maintaining a reputation for trustworthy, honest and high-quality work.
